With three major releases in 2007, the web version of mTAB (aka "mTABWeb") offers the survey analyst significant advantages over the desktop version of mTAB.   While the desktop version will continue to be supported for the foreseeable future, new mTAB feature additions and development will be limited to the web platform.

This document provides an overview of the new features available in mTABWeb relative to mTAB desktop up to and including the November 2007 (2007 R2) mTABWeb service release.

In addition to the arsenal of new features outlined below, the mTABWeb platform eliminates the receipt of database and software CDs, as database updates are instantaneous and software updates are automatic.  Further, mTABWeb simplifies sharing of recodes and tabs, and is far easier to administrate and support.   The remainder of this document highlights mTABWeb's new features; please follow the MORE>>> links to see how each feature is implemented in detail, and note that brief VIDEO overviews are available for many of the new features.

mTAB Significance Testing Significance Testing: automatically highlights significant differences.

While mTAB desktop provides test statistics for t-stat and percentage significance, mTABWeb enhances significance testing by automatically coloring significantly different cell values.   Two test types of significance tests are offered; one compares all columns to a selected base column, the other, all columns to each other concurrently.  MORE>>>   Video

mTAB Correspondence Analysis Correspondence Analysis: graphically displays hidden associations.

mTABWeb includes the built-in ability to create correspondence analysis graphics, eliminating the need to create these powerful analysis charts via a third-party service or with additional software.  MORE>>>

mTAB Ignore Current Filter Ignore Current Filter: displays filtered and unfiltered data side by side.

Right click on any selected column question and elect to ignore the existing respondent filter.  This powerful feature allows filtered and unfiltered data to be displayed side by side in the same cross tab, and supports variance and indexed comparisons of the filtered vs. unfiltered data.  MORE>>>

mTAB TopN Report Colorization TopN report colorization: using color to enhance TopN report readability.

When applied, the TopN report is automatically "colorized", easing the visual tracking of the question responses across columns.  Two types of reports are available; colorize the entire TopN report, or identify and color a selected question response.  MORE>>>

mTAB Conditional Formatting Conditional Spreadsheet Formatting: color enhanced analysis of the spreadsheet view.

mTABWeb supports the use of color to automatically "call out" cells based upon a user defined analysis criteria.  Two options are available; color the max and/or minimum value of any spreadsheet view row or column, or colorize cell values relative to a selected base value - for example 75% above the selected base value or 25% below.  This powerful feature makes it easy to identify the important values within a large crosstab table.  MORE>>>

mTAB Subset Remainder Format Subset Remainder Format: a new total of everything that is NOT subset.

This new question format available in mTABWeb provides for an additional total representing the sum of the questions responses that were NOT selected as the question subset.  By using this new format, variance and indexed comparisons can be formed relative to the existing subset and sample total question formats.  MORE>>>

mTAB Quartile Format Quartile Format: the perfect complement to the Median question format.

To further enhance the analysis of numerical question distributions, upper and lower quartile question formats are now available in addition the existing median and mean / weighted average formats.  MORE>>>

3rd Level Layers 3rd Level Layers: automatic suppression of "zero value" 3rd level columns.

mTABWeb offers a "layers" checkbox option for 3rd level questions that automatically eliminates columns that would otherwise contain zero or "N/A" values before they are displayed.  This simple checkbox significantly reduces the amount of data an analyst needs to review, and can be used to create hierarchical reporting such as vehicles within brand or segment.  MORE>>>

mTAB Saving Draft Recodes Draft Recode: enhanced support for sharing recodes.

With mTABWeb's enhanced workgroup features, sharing recodes with your team is incredibly easy - you no longer need to identify and manually copy mTAB's recode files.   The new draft recode feature allows a user to make changes to a draft version of a recode while the "original" is shared by other mTABWeb users.  MORE>>>

mTAB Simplified Spreadsheet View Simplified Spreadsheet View: enhanced integration with MS-Powerpoint™.

This new feature condenses the spreadsheet view values into a grid of data that can be readily cut & pasted into MS-Powerpoint™ or other 3rd party reporting tools.  MORE>>>

mTAB URL in Spreadsheet URL in spreadsheet: adds web links to the spreadsheet view.

mTABWeb allows URLs to be typed into the spreadsheet view and saved with tabs, in addition to supporting URLs built into mTAB databases.  This powerful feature extends the analysis of data beyond mTAB to any provided internet content such as photos, completed versions of questionnaires, supplemental research project documentation, supplemental web reporting, and others.  MORE>>>

The latest addition to this feature is a check box allowing the user to decide just how much detail is displayed in that description relating to any sequential lists of responses that have been selected.  MORE>>>
